As part of our Harrison’s Charity Task Force Day, we recruit members from different areas of the Group. They come together and do their bit for charity.

Our second charity day of the year took place on Thursday 22nd March at Darlington Mind.

For this particular project we had Jemima Harrison from Harrison Properties, Caroline Ridden and Simon Lunt from Harrison Creative, Graham Harrison from dispatch and Debbie Carr from our in-house sewing room. 

Who are Darlington Mind?

Darlington Mind is a registered local charity. They provide professional, confidential support and recovery services for people experiencing emotional or mental health problems and their carers.

Darlington Mind is a relaxed and informal environment. As a charity, they are dedicated to promoting and preserving good mental health. They are also there to assist those experiencing mental distress to regain their full potential in life and work.

They recognise that people are different and have different needs. As a result, they offer a wide range of support and recovery services to meet the needs of different people.

They see a range of people through their doors, from different backgrounds, ethnicities, have different interests and have different goals but what they do have in common is life stressors and personal life events that lead them to want to proactively maintain and improve their mental health and quality of life.

What did we do?

The team volunteered for the day, working on a sensory garden project. They dug out and transferred large quantities of gravel from the proposed new garden to a holding area on site. This project was seen as an enormous help in the preparation of the site before the hard landscaping commenced.

Our team had such a great day… Clearly Debbie was enjoying being pushing around in a wheelbarrow. Darlington Mind were even kind enough to provide our team with a picnic lunch!
